I have never met a kid who doesn’t love playdough and our house has officially transitioned to the completely, totally obsessed stage. One of my favourite memories of being little was making this playdough with my mom and I’m so excited to be able to share that with Bauz now. I spent the last week testing other recipes and none compare, this one is soft and squishy without being sticky. It takes less than 10 minutes to make and if you seal it up tight in a ziplock, it can last weeks.
- 1 C. flour
- 1/4 C. salt
- 2 T. cream of tartar
- 1 C. water
- 1 T. vegetable oil
- Food Colour
- Combine all ingredients in a medium sized sauce pan, mix well.
- Heat over medium heat until it forms a lump and take off heat.
- It should be soft and squishy when you touch it, but not sticky.
- Place on the counter and knead well until it is smooth.
Voila! It is actually that easy, it doesn’t even take 10 minutes to make. As kids get older it’s really fun to let them play with colour combinations and knead it while it is still nice and hot!
If you are on the hunt for a bundle of toys to use with the playdough, we got a big container of them from Walmart for only $20. The container has a handle and Bauzley loves to carry it around with him like a suitcase lol. I can’t wait to hear what you think of this recipe. Please tag me in your photos if you give it a try! <3
